       "Tug Zephyr" Master List

The Master List is the very heart of our Standing Order Service.  It is printed by Pilothouse based on information received from you, and serves to document the mutual understanding of what is to be maintained.  We print and mail a fresh copy

·        when a vessel or fleet comes into the service

·        when there is any change, either in the heading or the body

·        whenever you ask for it.

·        in the fall, when we ask you to review your list and send us any changes.

The heading gives contact and shipping information.  S069 is the unique identifier we have assigned to Tug Zephyr.  FLY001 is our identifier for the fleet.

The body is organized by subject, charts first, then various books.  Each subject is sorted by publisher.

On the extreme left is an empty column called “Bin/Location.”   This is reserved for the mate’s use.  The Master List was intended as a working document.

The next fields are:

"Qty" the quantity of this item we are to send
"Ven No" Vendor Number, or the identifier put on the item.
"Title" the name of the chart of publication.
"Pub" the publisher. The most common publishers are:

·        DMA, the old Defense Mapping Agency, which became the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, and is now know as NGA, National Geospacial and Intelligence Agency (we’re sticking to the original acronym).

·         NOS, National Ocean Service, part of NOAA.

·         GPO, Government Printing Office.

·        PH, Pilothouse.

“Scale” uses the categories described in the chart catalogs, and in Bowditch article 325:

·        SAI, Sailing, 1:600,001 and smaller

·        GEN, General, 1:150,001 to 1:600,000

·        CST, Coastal, 1:50,001 to 1:150,000

·        HBR, Harbor, 1:50,000 and larger

"Ed.Num" the edition number assigned by the publisher

"Ed.Date" the edition date assigned by the publisher

"S-Date" is the month in which we mailed out the current edition. Note that this is often one or two months after the Edition Date due to the time involved in checking, printing and distribution.
