The
Master List is the very heart of our Standing Order Service.
It is printed by Pilothouse based on information received from
you, and serves to document the mutual understanding of what is to be
maintained. We print and
mail a fresh copy
·
when a vessel or fleet comes into the service
·
when there is any change, either in the heading or the body
·
whenever you ask for it.
·
in the fall, when we ask you to review your list and send us
any changes.
The
heading gives contact and shipping information.
S069 is the unique identifier we have assigned to Tug Zephyr. FLY001 is our identifier for the fleet.
The
body is organized by subject, charts first, then various books.
Each subject is sorted by publisher.
On
the extreme left is an empty column called “Bin/Location.”
This is reserved for the mate’s use.
The Master List was intended as a working document.
The next fields are:
"Qty" the
quantity of this item we are to send
"Ven No" Vendor Number, or the identifier
put on the item.
"Title" the name of the chart of
publication.
"Pub" the publisher. The most common
publishers are:

DMA, the old Defense Mapping Agency, which became the National
Imagery and Mapping Agency, and is now know as NGA, National
Geospacial and Intelligence Agency (we’re sticking to the original
acronym).
·
NOS, National
Ocean Service, part of NOAA.
·
GPO, Government
Printing Office.
·
PH, Pilothouse.
“Scale”
uses the categories described in the chart catalogs, and in Bowditch
article 325:
·
SAI, Sailing, 1:600,001 and smaller
·
GEN, General, 1:150,001 to 1:600,000
·
CST, Coastal, 1:50,001 to 1:150,000
·
HBR, Harbor, 1:50,000 and larger
"Ed.Num" the
edition number assigned by the publisher
"Ed.Date" the
edition date assigned by the publisher
"S-Date" is
the month in which we mailed out the current edition. Note that this is
often one or two months after the Edition Date due to the time involved
in checking, printing and distribution.
