PC Navigation
| If you are one of the
many navigators who carry their laptops on board, you can turn your PC
into a powerful navigational instrument. It will display a chart and
your position on it; perform route planning, and many other
functions. You need four things: your computer, a GPS connection, a
set of charts on disk, and charting software.
Computer. Most experts
recommend a 15 inch or larger screen; at least 1 GB of RAM; a high-end
graphics card; and a DVD drive.
GPS connection. If you
already own a GPS, you will need a cable to connect it to your
computer. A simple and inexpensive alternative is to install a USB GPS
sensor such as the one described below.
Charts on Disk. Most
software comes with an initial set of charts on disk, but as time goes
by you will want new disks with more up-to-date charts.
Software. There are
many offerings on the market. We are pleased to offer the four
